How to Submit CS501 GDB Complete Guideline
Assume that Mr. Ali is using a 10th
generation Core i5 computer having 8 GB RAM and Windows 10 build 2H20. Ali feels
that his system is lagging and needs to improve the system performance within a
limited budget. Doubling the RAM capacity does not improve the system
performance significantly. Hence, there is need to further update the system.
Mr. Bilal, who is a friend of Ali, and is
working as system performance expert at Hydrogen Solutions Limited recommends
Ali to replace the storage drive as it may have some bad sectors in it. Ali has
shortlisted two storage devices among which one will replace the existing storage
device. These shortlisted storage devices are:
- A Mach.2 HDD (The Exos 2x14)
- FireCuda 530 500 GB
Considering the Speed, Cost and Lifecycle
as the main factors, identify which one of the above-mentioned storage devices
should Ali use in his computer and why? Give proper logical reasons in support
of your selection.
Answer:
After reading the scenario Ali have to increase the storage with Seagate’s 2x14 MACH.2 which is actually two 7 TB hard disk drive packaged into a single Helium-filled, hermetically sealed standard chassis. The drive features a 7.2K RPM spindle speed, equipped with a 256MB multisegmented cache, and uses a single port SAS 12GB/s interface.
After installing of this HDD his system will definitely comes out of lagging and low system performance. The host system considers the Exos 2x14 as two logical drives that are independently addressable. Seagate’s Exos 2x14 boasts a 524MB/s sustained transfer rate ( outer diameter) of 304/384 random read/write IOPS, and a 4.16ms average latency. The Exos 2x14 is even faster than Seagate’s 15K RPM Exos drives, so it is indeed the fastest HDD ever.
